Looking for a newly constructed townhouse in the Mount Snow Valley at a tremendous value? Haystack Highlands townhomes have been recently reduced. There are 4 units currently available for sale. Two are move in ready (N1 and M1) and two are just about complete, and there is still time to customize some of the fixtures and finishes. There are 3 floor plans to choose from: N1 at $375,000 has fairway views and southern exposure with 2 levels completed and an unfinished lower level ready for completion based on homeowner needs. M1 at $399,000 has 3 completed levels with an oversized 1 car garage. R1 at $349,000 is a two level unit with a more private location and R2 at $359,000 is a two level unit with an amazing view of the 12th fairway. Each unit is beautifully designed with upscale finishes and fixtures including a true fieldstone fireplace and 20 ft exposed beams ceiling in the great room. These townhomes are adjacent to the Haystack Golf Course and just a 10 minute drive to skiing and riding at Mount Snow. Mother Nature finally played the winter card. Yesterday we got an assault and were blessed with 5 inches of real natural snow. Vermont finally looks like winter.
Mount snow makes snow in order to open Monday december 7th
The cold weather has also allowed Mount Snow to have 178 snow guns running for two days and they plan to open top to bottom skiing and riding tomorrow, Monday morning December 7th.
Thinking of coming out to check out the snow? We’ve got early season pricing and discounted lift tickets on Seasons trailside rentals. Starting at $71/day/person.
Well Mother Nature has not been kind to Mount Snow this year. Last weekend, Thanksgiving is usually the first big weekend of the season. Not this year. Yes people came up but not in the usual numbers. Initially we had 4 rental reservations, but 3 of those canceled when they heard that the mountain was not going to be open for skiing or riding.
The weekend did bless us with a little snow storm. I was out of town but driving back into town I looked up at the mountain and all the trails were white. What a great feeling! The mountain then took advantage of cold temperatures and pounded the mountain for a full day. Things were looking good until last night we had 10 hours of pouring rain and guess what? The trails are no longer white.
The mountain is aiming for opening top to bottom runs this weekend but if they can manage it, it will only be by Sunday.
So hold thumbs that they’ll make it for this weekend. I know they’ll get it done if it is at all possible. These guys know their snow. Keep track of their progress on their website or check back here. I’ll be sure to post when they open.
They’ll definitely be open by Monday – great excuse for a midweek getaway? 2 bedroom Seasons rentals are still at early season prices of $175/night!

Mount Snow turned on 111 fan guns last night aiming to open multiple top to bottom runs for the weekend. 48 hours and counting – yippee! Here’s a little sneak peak of what they got accomplished in one night:
The real estate market throughout Vermont is in a low phase. The total volume of sales since about 2005 has decreased by over 50%. Second homes and condominium values in the “valley” have declined in the 10% to 20% range. Projects located slope side are the bottom of the range.
Mount Snow Real Estate Sales Comparison
Most areas of Southern Vermont are reporting a small bump in pending contracts and sales. This is encouraging but it is the appraiser’s opinion that it is unlikely that we have seen the end of the slump in the real estate market. Most publications indicate that by the end of 2009 the residential market will begin to increase. It has been the appraiser’s experience that Vermont typically does lag behind other areas of the country. This is evident by the down cycle that took place in the late 1980s/early 1990s. It is more probable that it will be late 2010 before Vermont does experience any significant increase in its real estate market. Above right is a graph showing the

decline in total sales in Wilmington and Dover; two major towns that make up the Mount Snow or Deerfield Valley. To the left shows condo sales that reached their peak in Dover in 2006 but have drastically declined since then.
Currently there are approximately 396 properties available for sale and of those 125 are condominiums. This large inventory along with low interest rates, make it a great time to buy. Yesterday the lifts starting running for the first time at Mount Snow. We were the first ski resort to open in Vermont.
Today its snowing. Our first day time snow of the season. I love it! It’s so pretty. So far it is not accumulating but we’ll see what happens later! Will keep you posted!
Its time to starting thinking about that trip up to Mount Snow. Rent a trailside condo for the weekend or the entire season!
I’m so proud of my home mountain. Without an inch of natural snowfall, Mount Snow’s magic fan guns have managed to lay down enough snow for an opening of October 17th, 2009. Mount Snow is the first ski resort in Vermont to open.
Mount Snow first to open in Vermont
Now granted it’s only one run on Discovery, a small hill in the base area but Gaitor and the Mount Snow Park Rangers have been out all week long setting up rails moved over from Carinthia, our all mountain terrain park. Check out Mount Snow’s website for photos of the day.
Lift tickets for Saturday and Sunday are $10 or 10 non-perishable food items. All the money and food will be donated to the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry. Not only do you have the chance to test out your gear, warm up those thighs, but you’ll be doing it for a great cause.
And while your mouth is watering over the prospects of skiing or riding, check out our website for trailside rentals and sales. We specialize in Seasons on Mount Snow which offers ski in condos, a great Sports center with indoor pool and hot tubs. Check it out:
